If the power failure is less than one day, then you don’t have to panic. Know that the fully loaded freezer can potentially stay cold for 1-2 days, and partially loaded freezer will stay cold for much less time. Therefore, you may be fine not to anything, however, try not to open freezer doors if possible. But if the power failure is going to last more than 1-2 days, then you must take action. The best thing is to buy dry ice and place it in the freezer. Follow necessary precautions when handling dry ice – wear gloves, and make sure not to contact with the food directly.
