Useful Kitchen Tip#10: Shelf Life of the Olive Oil
The olive oil if closed tightly and stored in the cool and dark place can easily last at least 18 months. If the olive oil is cloudy, then it is less than 18 months, probably just under 12 months. Once the olive oil container or bottle is opened – close tightly immediately and consume as soon as possible. Tip – buy 750 mL or 1 L bottles instead of 3-4 L containers to keep the olive oil fresh all the time. The olive oil should be protected from light, especially from sunlight. The olive oil can be stored in the refrigerator, but cannot be used immediately because at lower temperature it becomes little solidified and cloudy. However, even it looks cloudy its quality is still the same. The olive oil nice smooth texture is quickly restored at the room temperature.
